Don't buy from Osaka motors

"Why?" you ask. Well because you don't get what you should. Take the recent B18C-R motor that came into the shop. It was all busted up and missing some shit. Is that what we are supposed to get for a $4200 purchase?? Hell no. Here are some pics and a little explanation. Also, it should be noted that Jazz Pro Parts from Dallas TX on EBay is a daughter company to Osaka. Thats where this motor was purchased from but it came from Osaka. I had read about problems with Osaka but didn't know these guys were part of it.

First thing I notice when I tear off the wrapping is that there is some stuff missing, hmmmmm, like the axles AND shift linkage. Then I see that the back of the intake manifold has been beat to shit by something. I know that was the shipping company's fault but Osaka could've been a little more careful with the placement of the motor on the pallet. See, they used a really really skinny pallet and put the back of the motor flush with the edge of the pallet, then they used tiny little pieces of wire to "secure" the motor to the pallet (it rocks back and forth by hand).
look at how close the back of the motor is to the pallet side. Also note the small wires used to hold the motor down.

What do truck drivers do? They put the stuff as close to the wall as possible, so of course, the back of the motor got bumped many times up against the side of the truck breaking the TPS, the booster vacuum hardline, the other hardline back there, and ripping out the IACV wires from the plug.
Broken hardlines, scraped up IACV, and bent brackets.
Broken TPS w/ ripped out wires.

Back at where ever this was shipped from the down pipe (b-pipe??) was laid over the IM with NO protection (use some fucking cardboard for god sakes) and it thereby broke the map sensor, bent the top TB vacuum line (hope it doesn't cause a leak), and bent the TB pulley to ensure the plate didn't close all the way. Thank you.
Hey look! a busted map sensor.

Now, on top of ALL this crap we were sent a motor with a large dent in the oil pan and a couple of welds on the back of the block at the rear mount bracket location. Was this motor in a wreck??
Cool dent, eh?
why did this need to be done?

Now the best part. We needed to change the left mount bracket to a DA teg bracket, so I took off the crank pulley (it came off easily with a 3/8" ratchet, they arent supposed to) and look at this little gem I found:
Hey, look! A key made out of a bolt. WTF were they thinking?
Yep, thats a bolt that they made into a key for the crank pulley. Classy, eh?

Oh, wait, that wasnt the best part. This is:
Fuck.
That is a broken block. The left (front) holes are obviously broken out and the 3rd hole is all stripped out. There are about 3-4 threads that are usable at the bottom of all the holes and thats what was holding the "stock" mount bracket. Why is stock in quotes? Cause the mount bracket that came with it was brand new. ALL the other cast shit was rusted EXCEPT for the mount bracket which was/is still a pretty painted black, just like the new DA bracket we got. What does this mean?? They knew. They knew and they sent out a COMPLETELY UNSAFE block. What if we had an integra and didnt bother changing the timing belt? We wouldve bolted it in and A) the crank pulley wouldve probably come off (the bolt wasnt tight!!) B) the engine probably wouldnt have stayed securely in the car.

Soooooo, what are they going to do?? Even though it said there is a 3 month warranty they are going to fuck him. He wants an unbroken block. And for $4200 he should get one. They wont refund his money and take back the motor even though weve already fixed all the broken stuff on the IM. They wont send him an unbroken block if we sent the broken one back. They arent willing to do much of anything. He shouldnt have to call this guy every day and fight over the phone about whos fault it was. It wasnt the shipping company's (how could it have been???) and it DEFINATELY wasnt ours. I mean the thing hasnt even been off the pallet. It hasnt even moved from its original orientation on the pallet. We didnt drop it and even if we did how would it break like that and not screw anything else up? How would the pieces just dissapear?

Now we have to drag this motor all over town getting quotes to fix it, and even then it will forever be a broken and fixed block. And with all this crap, who knows what else is wrong with it.

Also, here is a pic illustrating the difference in rustage between the mount bracket and the rest of the parts (in addition to another pic of the damage):
*sigh*
Now look at the mount bracket (its all pretty shiney black) and then look at the alternator bracket (its all rusty!!). They both come from the factory looking like the mount bracket, why so different? Hmmmmm maybe cause SOMEONE KNEW, SOMEONE CHANGED IT TO COVER UP THE DAMAGE. Look at the cam gears: rusty, look at the knock sensor: rusty, and how about the water pump pulley: rusty. Look here is a pic of the intermediate shaft:

Wow, its rusted to all hell. Imagine that. So if ALL this stuff is rusty HOW COME THE FREAKING ENGINE MOUNT BRACKET ISNT??? How come its still all nice and shiney black?

What a pain in the ass.
